Camp Maxwell In Grove City Memorial Park
The Western Pennsylvania Civil War Reenactors Society,of the MCHS, will be hosting a Civil War living history event; ‘Camp Maxwell‘ at the Grove City Memorial Park, August 23rd and 24th. The camps will be open from 9 AM to 5PM on Saturday, and 10 AM to 4 PM on Sunday. In honor of Mercer Counties Civil War Heritage, the Camp is named after famed Civil War General Norman J. Maxwell who was a native of Mercer County. There will be living history demonstrations in the life of the Civilians of the 1860’s as well as a Battle reenactment scheduled for the afternoon. Civil War artillery will be on site with firing demonstrations scheduled. There will be a call for militia volunteers to learn the School of the Civil War Soldier and be a part of the battle reenactment. For more information please call Timothy Bennett 724-992-0194.
