Sandy Lake Breeze Microfilm

Over the course of the last several months, the MCHS has received a number of copies of local newspapers as accessions. Among these recent newspaper accessions have been a significant number of Sandy Lake Breeze newspapers.

The MCHS is starting a new phase of our microfilming program on August 15, 2019. We are starting with the Breeze and hope to continue to other newspapers. Even though we have received a number of Breeze’s we hope to fill in as many “gaps” as we possibly can before we microfilm. We are asking for your help.

If you have any copies of any newspapers, especially the Sandy Lake Breeze’s, we are asking you to submit them to the MCHS to have them microfilmed—even if you found them in your attic, basement, or garage; or on the bottom of various dressers around your house or even under your carpets. After microfilming, we are willing to keep them in our collection or return them to you. There are several steps we have to take before we can microfilm them: 1) we have to hydrate them to ensure their durability, 2) we have to make sure we do not have duplicate copies and we choose the better copies, and 3) we have to place them in chronological order. As you can imagine, this takes a bit of time.

If you are able to help us, please submit your newspapers to us no later than August 8th. Thank you. If you are willing to help us in the microfilming process, please contact us—this process is not difficult and can be taught by our staff/volunteers. Please consider helping.
