History in the Making

History in the Making.  We Look at the Presidents Cleveland through Taft—1885-1913.

On Tuesday May 21, 2019, the Mercer County Historical Society will present it final program until September.  This month we will be looking at several Presidents from our past spanning the year 1885 to 1913 and including Presidents Grover Cleveland through William H. Taft.  During the times of great economic growth—the Gilded Age—Cleveland serves two non-consecutive terms, McKinley is assassinated, Roosevelt starts his Anti-Trust crusade, and Taft becomes estranged from his friend Teddy Roosevelt.   The program will be presented by David James.  The doors open at 6:30 PM; the program starts at 7:00, and should end around 9:00.  Please join us.  This event is FREE and open to the public.
The Modern History/History in the Making Discussion Group is part of the Mercer County Historical Society’s ongoing efforts to provide programming related to local history.  The roundtable meets on the third Tuesday of each month from September through May.  Participation in the discussion group is open to the public and is FREE.  The Historical Society’s Headquarters is at 119 South Pitt Street, Mercer.  For further information, please call the Historical Society at 724-662-3490, email info@mchspa.org, or look to our webpage www.mchspa.org .
