Did you know? There is an unmarked cemetery in Mercer County. Over 500 hundred people are there. That cemetery is part of the old Mercer County Home Complex. There are no head stones. All of those buried there are indigent and “lost.” This cemetery is hiding in plain sight . . . and you have probably driven by it dozens of times and never noticed it.

A group of people—Robert Lark, Jerry Johnson, Gene Brenneman, Matt McConnell, Woody Dixon, Paul Mehalko, and Bill Philson—have come together to remember those folks who are buried and unknown. The Mercer County Home Cemetery Committee are attempting to clean up this cemetery, commemorate those folks who are interred there, and have it regularly maintained and laid out as a restful place for descendants to remember their loved ones. One of members, Woody Dixon, has uncovered over 500 burials in this five acre cemetery.

Do you want to help? We can use able hands, committee members, and fund raisers—people of all kinds. Please think of lending a hand to a truly noble cause. Help us remember our past.
