A Civil War Captain and His Lady

A Civil War Captain and His Lady by Gene Barr

On Tuesday, November 14, 2017, the Mercer County Historical Society (119 South Pitt Street, Mercer, PA) will present a program on the lives of Josiah Moore and Jennie Lindsay. Josiah was in the 17th Illinois Infantry from Monmouth, Illinois, and served in the Western Theater of the Civil War. Jennie was a rather well to do woman from Peoria, Illinois. The book explores Civil War life and courting during that era. This program will be presented by William Philson, MCHS Executive Director, and should be very enlightening. The doors open at 6:30 PM; the program starts at 7:00, and should end around 9:00. Please join us.

The Civil War Discussion Group is part of the Mercer County Historical Society’s ongoing efforts to provide programming related to local history. The roundtable meets on the second Tuesday of each month from September through May. Participation in the discussion group is open to the public and is free. The Historical Society’s headquarters is at 119 South Pitt Street, Mercer.
